But I'll mention what you're describing is very much brain fog like symptoms. It's more well known as a long covid symptom nowadays however it did always appear as a symptom of other infections. I have an older family member that went through an intense encephalitis infection (for him it started out with a viral mosquito infection, west nile virus to be specific) and since encephalitis affects the brain he eventually recovered with brain fog symptoms among other things.
Thing is that healthier/younger people can be infected with viruses leading to encephalitis and be asymptomatic (no symptoms) during that time, but down the road long term symptoms can show up like brain fog. Yes, like long covid, but other infections can lead to the same result is what I'm getting at. Getting some blood work done with a doctor would narrow down or rule out stuff like this.

Investors that factor in world markets would probably do okay as long as you're talking just U.S. economic troubles. e.g. right now VT (total world stock ETF) is weighted 64.70% U.S. market due to market strength. So in theory if the U.S. tanked and other countries have better markets for investing then the weights would shift to the other side and maybe being closer to 30% U.S. vs rest of the world's markets weighted towards 70%.

I suspect it's partly a safety / comfort thing, female drivers don't necessarily want to be hit on or harassed by every other male passenger they pick up.
They do exist, I just assume they're armed in case they pick up some dude that starts acting up.. The one woman I personally knew that was an uber driver always had a weapon her on side of the car just in case.

So it's not all accounts, just the ones that don't already have 2FA. Personally I wouldn't have noticed any changes since I already use 2FA enabled with an authenticator app. But I can see how this might bite you in the ass if you weren't already using 2FA.
Interestingly I used to run into a similar issue when using Lastpass. When logging in from other IP addresses they would often do mandatory email 2FA, and of course I couldn't get into the email account without Lastpass. But it sort of resolved itself since I also have email on my phone so I just had to make sure those Lastpass emails didn't end up in spam or wherever.
If you're not seeing anything of concern in the SMART info then there's little to worry about. You could install/run smartctl from the command line, or for something with a gui try gsmartcontrol / any other app that can interact with your hard drive diagnostics.
Hard drives can last a long time, as a general rule if your hard drive made it through its first 1-2 years without issue then there's a good chance it'll keep chugging along for years. I personally haven't found that hard drives consistently die in 5-7 years, not too sure where you got that info from.
In any case backups are your friend, not just in case the hard drive dies but there's always the possibility that your entire OS blows up somehow or you get a bad case of malware.

Linux would make more sense but if you're dead-set on Windows then I guess you could try Win 11 Pro (or Enterprise) with whichever debloat tool you prefer. I've had good experience with Win11Debloat (https://github.com/Raphire/Win11Debloat).
Don't expect too much with 8GB RAM but at least you can start out removing the AI stuff, Windows Store apps, etc. to trim down the bloat. Be prepared to have to re-run debloat scripts and/or re-install Windows, Microsoft likes to add new types of bloat post-install.
And keep an eye on any and all apps and services that are configuring themselves to auto-start on Windows boot, you don't need any optional stuff to auto-start and take up memory in the background if you're constrained to 8GB RAM.
