Zen, absolutely love the workflow and the fact that it is not chromium based.

Waiting excitedly for ladybird, it is already very impressive but still years left until it is daily drive able

The reason I mentioned i3 and hyprland was specifically to give an XOrg and Wayland alternative. Personally I think hyprland is a way better system than sway

If infinite customization is what you're after you shouldn't use a DE. A WM like i3 och hyprland is much better suited for that

EndeavorOS is arch with an easy installer and some default apps.

Manjaro is a worse, split repo that doesn't work at all together with the architecture they are building around. They actively encourage use of AUR packages whilst their own repo packages are sometimes out of date and create issues with AUR packages since they don't delay updates from there.

There are also tonnes of other issues with Manjaro, overall, don't use it.

No, I know my girlfriend doesn’t look at my stuff but I couldn’t care less if she did. The worst things i have on my devices are pirated games and movies and she can enjoy those all she wants

I think this comes from inside, if you are the type of person that snoops into other people’s stuff you would probably also be afraid others do the same. I couldn’t care less what my girl does on her phone (she would let me if I wanted to though) so I don’t look.

The yoda grammar thing never really worked for me, the Japanese grammar is so different from the other languages I speak that I just could never translate in my head.

When it comes to Japanese, either I know how to say something naturally or I don’t, I can’t do convoluted English (or other languages) to Japanese translation in my head and then speak

Well to preface this, 6 months ago I moved to Japan to study Japanese.

During a trip to Tokyo I randomly ended up talking to a group of salarymen on the way to the same restaurant at me in akihabara. After a while they asked me if I live in Japan and I answered yes and then proceeded to say 日本にしんでいる instead of 日本に住んでいる, for those who don’t speak Japanese, I accidentally said I am dying in Japan instead of I am living in Japan which is surprisingly close pronounciation wise lol. This was met with loads of laughs

Being based on Debian is not one of them, and any others are honestly made irrelevant by the gave that a gaming centric OS couldn’t run 99% of the games out there

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago (2 children)

That is not why it failed.

It failed because the market of Linux native games was minimal and at that time compatibility tools like proton didn’t exist and wine was nowhere near sophisticated enough and required too much fiddling to get to work, especially for the layman which steamos very much was and is targeted towards.

It helps me tremendously with language studies, outside of that I have no use for it and do actively detest the unethical possibilities of it
