I was thinking of spinning up a vm to test this process. For production I'll definitely wait until version 16 though.

Wanted to get people's takes on how they handle Linux only software. Bhyve seems like it would be less error prone, but trying to see if there's any advantages to the jail method. In particular I'm looking to install Netlockrmm.

Going to shout out Haven. SSH, RDP, and VNC in a single app, with frequent updates! It's a Net Admin's dream.

Do you live in a highly humid environment? It's rare, but here's an article mentioning it. https://thetechylife.com/how-do-i-stop-moisture-detected-in-charging-port/

Not looking for an argument, as I myself use a multitude of operating systems. Just liked the blending of my favorite show with FreeBSD.

I use Steam Remote Play fairly often so I'm still running Fedora on my gaming pc. But I'm hoping it is eventually made to work on FreeBSD so I can use it instead.

lsblk? (www.rubenerd.au)

I'm still guilty of typing lsblk so this was an excellent read.

No native support for FreeBSD images, but I was able to get installed using KVM over IP on a "So You Start" dedicated machine.

Excellent resource!

Project was a success! Link now has updated info. Not necessarily a step by step guide, but more about the process and "gotchas" that I came across. Also includes a link to the configuration files I ultimately used.

I'm documenting my adventures at the official forums.

I'm having so much fun learning about all these features of Freebsd. Sudo was so ingrained in me that I never gave much thought to the mechanics of it.

My install went well, to the point where I was certain I must have missed some steps. I'm going to test some static page hosting on it too. If all goes well it will be my choice for basic web hosting going forward.

Coming from Linux, primarily bash. The extensibility of zsh has me interested. I'm not likely do to a lot of scripting, I'm really looking for a way to efficiently enter commands from a mobile devicee

With my installationof Sogo, lighthttpd, and mysql, is 5.4GB. This jail is based on 14.4

It's been working well for me. I did settle on thick jails for building a groupware server, and rdp server. They seemed to be work better for the more complex set-ups.

Is this for home lab stuff, or are you using them for production?

I'd agree it's most likely the cooler, but I've seen odd instances of a faulty motherboard or the motherboard being screwed too tightly to the case causing flexing and/or shorts.

The install from source is just too slow imo. Going to tackle again, but install sogo and dependencies directly. I'll lose the nice admin panel that attracted me to iredmail, but I suspect this will work better overall.
