Also: this is food. It rots. It's simply not possible to move surplus food to other countries that easily, even if it was a good idea (which it isnt)

Yes, it is real.
I'm not sure why they race in Aston green though, they seem to have no connection to Aston Martin.

He seems to have at least some support with the voting national automobile clubs, I assume european ones. (Which is what Sainz sr didnt manage to get)

Also interesting from the article:

Mayer is the son of former McLaren team principal Teddy Mayer, and has held leading positions in US-based Champ Car, Imsa and the American Le Mans Series, as well as stewarding across many of the FIA's championships, including Formula 1 for 15 years.

He was sacked by Ben Sulayem last year after representing the Circuit of the Americas in a "right of review" hearing into a fine levied on the track following a crowd invasion at the end of last year's US Grand Prix.

Mayer was one of a series of senior officials who have been fired by the FIA in the past 18 months

Erik van Haren (who is considered close to Verstappen's personal team) has just posted :

"Many stories and rumors are circulating again about Max Verstappen and Mercedes. The interest from Mercedes is there, and that is also known, but according to my information, there is no official offer, and Verstappen has therefore not said 'yes.' "

He added: “We’ll probably know within the next month or so. Nothing definitive yet”

While there is no doubt that Mercedes and Max Verstappen's representatives have held talks in recent weeks about a potential future Formula 1 tie-up, what is less clear is the end game at play from both sides.
The cynics would suggest Mercedes can drive down George Russell's pay demands if he knows someone else is sniffing around his seat, while the Verstappen camp can push up what Red Bull will put on the table to keep its number one on board if it gets to the point where they need to renegotiate a contract for fear of losing him.
There probably is no ultimate truth to what is playing out either, as the motivations from both camps are likely coming from different directions and they don't want them to be revealed.

However, based on what we have learned speaking to sources with good knowledge of the situation, there are some interesting elements that give us a clue about where things may go both over the next few weeks and the longer term.
..
What seems safe to say is that Verstappen and his management are weighing up his F1 future.
..
The smartest move right now for any driver is to have freedom at the end of next year – so they can jump ship if their current team is not up to scratch (in the new regulations) and get themselves into a more competitive car for 2027.

That appears to be the game that Verstappen is playing, with sources suggesting that any move to another F1 team is unlikely to happen until 2027 at the earliest – so any discussions taking place are more about that.

But equally, that does not mean that he and Red Bull can sit back and think it's guaranteed that Verstappen will stay on for next year.
One more leftfield idea that emerged in the Austria paddock was that the main decision Verstappen is likely making for 2026 is ... it's time for a break - especially having just become a father.

"As far as I understand it drivers have very limited impact on the development of the car these days." Haas people have publicly said that Hulkenberg joining them enabled them to finally get the kind of feedback needed to solve the issues they had had for years. Maybe that's an outlier case but I believe the ability of a driver to give feedback for car development is valued.

This idea that every superhero is "another version of superhero xy" has always been quite stupid to me. In the case of Ironheart, the only similarity is that both of them build themselves mechasuits. And that Riri is of course influenced/impressed by Tony Stark, like every other teen character in the MCU.

" [..] I've been working a lot in the simulator with my team, with my engineers, with many people to try and understand these things."

We have not seen any other driver in that McLaren this year, do maybe it speaks a lot of the car, but for a rookie in his first session this is highly unusual.

Denis Villeneuve will direct the next James Bond film, Amazon MGM Studios has revealed, with Tanya Lapointe signing on as an executive producer. As previously announced, Amy Pascal and David Heyman will serve as producers.

“Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since ‘Dr. No’ with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory,” Villeneuve said. “I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor. Amy, David, and I are absolutely thrilled to bring him back to the screen. Thank you to Amazon MGM Studios for their trust.”

Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, added, “We are honored that Denis has agreed to direct James Bond’s next chapter. He is a cinematic master, whose filmography speaks for itself. From ‘Blade Runner 2049’ to ‘Arrival’ to the ‘Dune’ films, he has delivered compelling worlds, dynamic visuals, complex characters, and—most importantly—the immersive storytelling that global audiences yearn to experience in theaters. James Bond is in the hands of one of today’s greatest filmmakers and we cannot wait to get started on 007’s next adventure.”

First episodes of the Ironheart show are now out on Disney+
