VPN companies have a low interest in selling user data. Their business model is pretty profitable already, and any leak of this would instantly kill the brand.

There's no reason for proton and mullvad to sell user data. They would be legally liable and they would break their profitable companies

It’s like 23andme

fucking DNA stuff that was even written in the privacy policy iirc so meh, not the same

simply selling out eventually like they all do

would love to get examples of this. I have a lot of counter examples

they're good at protecting websites but damn, having a company being MITM feels so wrong

I assume their script does some search engine stuff like query google or bing and then "scrap" the links they go on

Some selenium stuff

They do have a point though. It would be great to let per-prompt searches go through, but not mass scrapping

I believe a lot of websites don't want both though

I don't like cloudflare but it's nice that they allow people to stop AI scrapping if they want to

woops, you're completely right. Got fucked by an LLM. I thought I had checked but it seems like I only did for mastodon and trusted it for the rest

Mailcow seems to be on GPL, not AGPL as well

My bad. I was searching for examples but that's still bad

the devil you don’t

You're saying the reputable company is a devil we don't know? If you want to be dishonest, try a bit harder.

What you should say is "What's better? The devil you know or the unknown entity that claims to be an angel (and that hasn't been caught doing bad things since its existence, a few years)?"

d'accord, merci pour l'info

Pas un fan des PWA qui ont souvent des petits problèmes et pas un feeling natif mais ça rend bien service parfois

That’s for deployed services that others are using.

What I meant to say is that it's a public mastodon, gitea, mailcow instance

then talk to a lawyer who specializes in copyright for your jurisdiction

It would be a nice answer, but I'm not going to if I'm not going to make money with the projects. I can't justify this spending
