Try to stick to open-source apps from the F-Droid store.

That was my plan

Unfortunately there aren’t many tablets out there with official LineageOS support. Here’s the list, you can filter by device type “tablet”: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/

I was checking it and yea, there isn't much, sadly.

I have an old Galaxy S6 Lite

I saw that the Galaxy S5e had a great screen but I was afraid the chip was going to be slow as fuck, and it doesn't seem great

So my only real choice is a Pixel tablet then? Might wait for some promo, I find it pretty expensive

I was also considering the Xiaomi Pad 5 which is supported by /e/OS and is much more affordable

I care a bit less about security, no one will have direct access to the hardware except me, and there won't be anything sensitive on it. Security updates are still important because... it would be nice not to get the entire OS fucked and joining a botnet

I don't want to bother too much, and yea sadly I don't care much about OS features as long as I can flash some custom OS or something. Even AOSP might do the trick because I probably won't install proprietary stuff. Why can't manufacturers sell tablets with a good screen and speaker, without cameras or annoying useless BS?

Considering your use case u might be able to get a standalone display and put it in a custom 3d printed case with a raspberry pi and battery. I believe their are some similar projects online that are worth checking out.

Seems interesting if well made but I would probably prefer some Android device

so you kept the stock OS?

How do you do with Play Services? Did you install the proprietary stuff or installed MicroG (or just don't run GPServices at all)? is it easy?

I was also worried a bit about the updates. They seem to take time and most of the stuff is community releases only. Coming from GrapheneOS, so that shocks me a bit

I plan on using ReVanced https://revanced.app/

And it seems like the Google Pixel Tablet doesn't have a screen that's really that bad, but paying 500€ for an LCD screen doesn't feel good, but there doesn't seem to be any good cheap option for an OLED screen

If I get a Pixel Tablet I'll probably use GrapheneOS instead

At this point it's a mini laptop, no? It could be an option but heh, I'm a bit worried it won't feel as easy and great as Android

it's a bit hard to watch videos on this but it's pretty eco-friendly

You might get something out of it from a thinking model (you probably shouldn't try with a regular one), but don't trust it 100%

Apple has great hardware and if you don’t mind not really being able to sideload then it’s good

I feel like that would break DRM if watching streaming services, either causing it not to work or reverting to a shitty quality

I feel like I would be tired from it really quickly

Plus VR headset displays still have some problems

In France, a lot of workers are (illegal) immigrants who aren’t legally allowed to work in the country. They rent the account and only get a fraction of what the account earns

It is unethical but cracking down on it means some people wiling to work can’t, and so even if they are illegal immigrants, they’re not necessarily bad as they’re clearly willing to work
