Their biggest issue is they have enabled baby boomers for so long they’ve alienated the generations that came after. With baby boomers dying out, so is their support.

Unfortunately for them, they don’t appear to be able to reinvent themselves for the new generations other than the painfully transparent alignment with One Nation. The fact they are pulling Tony Abbott out of retirement proves that.

It’ll certainly fire up the rusted-on culture-warriors who watch Sky After Dark and take horsepaste for their wind turbine syndrome. Though, since Australia already has compulsory voting, this probably won’t yield a significant number of extra votes. Meanwhile, the bourgeois women voters in leafy suburbs who shifted to teal independents don’t look like they’ll be coaxed back into the tent by this.

It might improve things but only relative to where are now. Like he could well be an effective counter to One Nation but that doesn't get them back into government.

30 million people in the country, and the only one they can find is someone we voted out already.

They could find people with phds who are younger, but nooo. Can't do that 😂

Anyone intelligent enough to earn* a PhD is probably smart enough to want to avoid the Liberal Party implosion like the plague.
