A new study has found a clear link between air pollution exposure and the risk of ending up in hospital. It's a battle Julia Ovens knows only too well.

Good luck with any of this changing.

Where is the honest government ad on this topic? Clean air? Nah go fuck yourself Australia!

From the W.A. experience:

The law has nothing to prevent people who smoulder green wood and literally burn plastic rubbish in their wood heaters. Nothing. Maybe the local council will offer to drop a pamphlet off at their house if they get enough complaints from neighbors. Cunts living in fucking 350sqm lots 5km from the CBD with wood heaters... seriously. They should only be allowed on 5hectare + properties in order to keep them away from dense population and to simply dilute the level of pollution they put out.

IMO the tax policies that encouraged people in to using diesel utes / SUVs as mum taxis and urban commuter vehicles was a huge fuck up by the federal government. It will only cost the tax payer more over time due to having to pay for more insurance / medicare to cover all the health issues it caused. The auto manufactures should be made to fucking pay for it. Go look on any 4wd related social media page. Dickheads there will be jerking themselves off in delight that their child squasher mobile with no functioning diesel emission controls is fucking children right in the lungs. Whether it's because they have deleted all of the emission controls, or they are driving some ancient thing that never had it to start with they shouldn't even be on the road in cities.

In W.A. we also have the DBCA (department for burning cute animals). Every time the wind is blowing towards major population centers they set fire to huge swathes of forest 10s of km from where anyone actually lives in order to hit some made up quota of "hazard reduction burning". There is no scientific consensus for this method and a growing amount of evidence against this method.

Fuck that smoke and ash was rough last week. We had to redo two loads of washing that were drying on the line.

I's once at a bonfire night and these siblings were just sat there staring into the fire and started chuckin their glow sticks in. No discernible reason, just to watch something burn i suppose.

Too much push back, you would never be elected , it's the reasons The Greens hold so little power.

It's one reason I am on the edge of a small rural town on a couple acres in Tasmania, clean air. Use an ev, solar panels and heat pumps. Launceston is as toxic as hell this time of year, thick with woodsmoke and anytime i walk through my little town to the library and one of of the trucks hauling; logs, milk, diesel, potatoes, cattle etc goes past... the stench of diesel exhaust fumes :( let alone the endless assholes parked in their idling cars and checking thier phones in bigger towns

@Zagorath Yes...and...? I'm not dismissing the concerns. On a clear day, you need to be well clear of any built-up area, to breathe reasonably liveable air! I wonder how anyone lived as long as they did in London of the 1800s, or the Industrial North?
Renewables like solar and wind, create pullution in their manufacture, but not in their use. Stop voting for Fossil Fools, and make the current Feds do the job they promised to rein in carbon pullution.
