When Democrats inevitably take power again, and refuse to prosecute these war crimes, remember this to remind yourself that they are the enemy as well, even if not the immediate one.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 22 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I'd argue Democrats coming back to power isn't inevitable, far from it. America is in for either revolution, civil war or decades of fascist rule. Something needs to give before corporate centrists can hold power in America again, and so far it hasn't.

Tweets. Midly worded mid level corporate manager pc tweets at best.

Yes, the most important thing to do after every Republican atrocity is to remember how BoTh SiDeS are identical morally.

[–] circuscritic@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 days ago (22 children)

That's not a both sides argument.

That's someone who's lived through many cycles of American hot potato, and is under no illusion as to who the Democrats are, which is not the same as the Republicans, but still their own lesser brand of banal evil.

identical morally

I think you are reading a different comment.

I don't think Carter, AOC, or Mamdani authorized drone strikes. Obama, a centrist at best, definitely did.

[–] circuscritic@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Remind me, who was the last non-centrist Democratic President?

[–] DancingBear@midwest.social 5 points 2 days ago

Biden was FDR 2.0! The most progressive president in our lifetimes!

Haha!!!

[–] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Basically look at where the gdp vs. Real wage gap falls apart. It's pretty clear.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sure, but I think it's clear from context that I'm talking about Obama. Establishment bootlickers love him so this is a good opportunity to highlight their hypocrisy.

[–] somethingsnappy@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He may be the best republican president we've had since the shift, but he is no favorite among progressives.

[–] lectricleopard@lemmy.world 34 points 2 days ago (2 children)

THIS is and illegal order. THIS order may be refused.

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And the military won't refuse them

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 5 points 2 days ago

Why would they though? The military is by design authoritarian. They're fucking loving the fascist revolution.

How many people signed up to go to Afghanistan, just to shoot brown people? It's filled with racist pieces of shit, with a boner for being dominated by an angry prick with an inferiority complex and a crew cut.

[–] Mihies@programming.dev 7 points 2 days ago

All of these are illegal.

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca 24 points 2 days ago

Department of War Crimes is at it again

[–] NoForwardslashS@sopuli.xyz 33 points 3 days ago (2 children)

How did we get to a reality where TV personalities are in charge of armies and command them to kill indiscriminately on a drunken whim?

[–] BrikoX@lemmy.zip 37 points 3 days ago

Capitalism. When you have nothing, own nothing and can't afford anything and robber barrons point out some mythical enemy responsible for all of that many people fall for it out of desperation and racism of course.

The way the GOP has been trying to hurt education since, forever? That is why.

Gotta cover up your war crimes and lies. Survivors could tell the world that they're innocents, not 'narco-terrorists', and prove the US is attacking Venezuelan boats on bullshit supposed Intel to try and incite retaliation to justify their war they absolutely intend to start.

[–] shapeofthings@piefed.ca 27 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Murder. Straight up murder.

[–] Mihies@programming.dev 4 points 2 days ago

It was obvious murders/assassinations from the beginning.

Need to ensure no survivors

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago
