Since his return to power in January, Trump has been increasingly focused on the Nobel Peace Prize. He has claimed to have ended several conflicts around the world.

Experts, however, contest his claims.

Many world leaders and lawmakers are adopting a new tactic to stay in Trump's good graces — praising his peace efforts and nominating him for the Peace Prize.

I really want someone by trumps side on his dying bed to say very loudly, "And you still didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize, but Obama did."

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 35 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I can't believe this is all happening just because he was ridiculed at a correspondents dinner.

I know right? The pettiness knows no bounds!

And hitler was rejected from art school.

Dictators are extremely petty people.

[–] Kalon@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago

Its worth noting that Obama wanted to turn it down, but was told that turning it down would be insulting.

Having people kiss his ass and give him free handouts to stay in his good graces is how Trump has been operating his entire life.

The new Japanese PM is an ultraconservative nationalist who is cozying up to Japan's version of MAGA. It's like Javier Milei in Argentina nominating him. They're on the same page.

"Oh boy, here I go working with white supremacist fascists again!"

[–] RedWeasel@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Kim Jong Un should nominate Putin.

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 month ago

AND vice versa

[–] kokesh@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I guess that orange senile narcissist is begging anyone he meets to nominate him. He should be put into some dementia care home.

Sure! I hope every day someone takes him out. I guess by voicing my hopes about this every day around the internet I'm never going to the Nazi states of America ever again 😂 as I'm on persona non grata list!

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You don't care that your neighbor, the last remaining superpower of the world, with enough weapons to obliterate the planet, who own the global economy, is doing or that it is collapsing into a black hole of fascism?

I'm not even from that side of the planet, and I worry a lot.

[–] 1985MustangCobra@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago

Well the only thing I worry about is when they invade and I die defending Canada.

“We don’t negotiate with terrorists and don’t give up to bullies^†^”

† when it suits us

[–] CountVlad47@feddit.org 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This is the equivalent of "aww, don't worry buddy... you'll get it next time". In other words, how you might treat a child (apologies to any children for the comparison).

This negotiating tactic is particularly smart because even though it can be used to gain favor with Trump/US, the final decision of who gets the prize is out of their control so someone else can be blamed if he doesn't get it.

[–] Nutteman@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Sorry but shes an ultra-conservative. She probably means it.

[–] CountVlad47@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of that.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

Trumpchan can grab her by the pussy.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 10 points 1 month ago

I wonder what the "deal" is here.

[–] Linktank@lemmy.today 8 points 1 month ago

What a stupid loser (both of them)

[–] somewhiteguy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

"I'm going to nominate my arms dealer for a Peace Prize" is an amazing idea. How can this ever go poorly?

She was a drummer who covered Metallica, and she rode a Kawasaki. So close to perfect.

[–] Dreaming_Novaling@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago

Awful everything. At least Japanese people are protesting against Trump.

Like yay, Japan still likes us and I might be able to study abroad. But on the other hand, they've got a "women should be traditional" nutcase who thinks Trump is cool. Like nooooo. Stop. I'd rather you hate us.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

dick sucking sounds in Japanese

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

it's all pixelated...

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh, we all know what's in the Russian kompromat, Donnie, and what you really really want is the Nobel Piss Prize.

The only reason I won't piss on your grave once you're gone is because you'd no doubt enjoy it.

Shehbaz Sharif (Asim Munir) and Netanyahu already did; why are people trying to form a line for this lol

[–] blave@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I’ll believe it when I see it. And if I do happen to see it, I’ll still know it’s total bullshit.
