Bloom County is an American comic strip by Berkeley Breathed which originally ran from December 8, 1980, until August 6, 1989. It examined events in politics and culture through the viewpoint of a fanciful small town in Middle America, where children often have adult personalities and vocabularies and where animals can talk.

This community is for Bloom County ands associated media from 1980-1989, the life of the original strip.

While it is never said where Bloom County is located, the house on which the Boarding House is based is located in Iowa.
Berkeley Breathed, who wrote the comic strip Bloom County, called the house one of "the ugliest houses in the five-state area... Six different architectural styles in one house is a milestone at least and at most a landmark to bad taste". Breathed used the house as the model for the boarding house where Bloom County is partially set.
