Democrats would try to compromise with Grey Goo. They're unable (or unwilling) to treat anything as an existential threat, including literal existential threats.
Trump famously believes the last person he talked to.
It makes sense if they thought they made progress. He's an easy target to make progress on.
And someone will come in and show him a different idea at their earliest convenience.
Are they not supposed to try to convince the people who have all the power? I'm not sure you understand the situation here.
Talking to him is like drawing in sand. They've had enough experience with him to know how he operates at this point. They should know better than to think anything they say will get through to him long term or make statements to that effect and they should get out of the way of those who are trying to actually fight him. He has no shame and no integrity compromise will not work.

I know it's so much easier to throw rocks from the sidelines. There's shit they could and should be doing better. There's shit they absolutely should have done better in the past. But I understand the various reasons and forces, and I know these old fucks are trying.
They should be trying things with a chance of success, like public messaging.

Schumer and Jeffries are useless. The more and more I see of their bullshit antics the more I think they truly are controlled opposition and the incompetence is intentional.
They are, it isn't even subtle. Same goes for basically all US mainstream news media (CNN, ABC, CBS, MSNBC), they exist to steer the outrage in unproductive ways and reframe right wing talking points into a form that is palatable for a "centrist"/liberal audience
