Ah yes, really the bane of all Canadians right now. The... (Checks notes) increase of choices for Canadian consumers.

I'm so glad he will spend most of his energy and efforts to sort that out and nothing else.

He’s right though. Instead of selling electric cars, the government should be requiring public transport

[–] saigot@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

I think that transitioning to an electric vehicle will help push alot of people to use or desire public transit. Park at a charger, walk or public transit to your final destination seems like a good stepping stone to dropping the car.

Somehow I don’t think that is what is on creepy little pp’s mind. More like lining his pockets with oil company bribes. Doubt he gives a shit about public transportation.

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 months ago

Oh it absolutely isn’t. But sometimes people can have the right answer with the wrong motivation.

the government should be requiring public transport

Easy there, Satan. First, let's agree that Public Transport is "no one is more than 10 min walk from a free-ticket 24/7 train station unless it's bungalow jungle where the roach coach comes every 10 minutes no more than 10 min walk from your home because fuck the baroque bungalows" and then we can ratify that as a goal.

To clarify, I’m not saying that public transportation shall be requires to be used, I’m saying the government shall require that it be built.

I am not going to agree with you on 24/7 free ticket. While I currently live in a place where autos are a requirement instead of a hobby, I have lived in a city where $1.50 maximum will get you across the metropolis. The train/underground/metro comes every 2-4 minutes.

What I’m saying is that if you ever feel the need to go beyond a three lane road ( read: three lanes total, not three lanes in each direction), you should rip up the road and replace it with a train or metro. This applies to highways, arteries, and roads. No, I am not suggesting buses - electric, hydrogen, or diesel.

You should be able to use public transportation the way you think about your car. Need to go somewhere far? Take the speedy route (highway->high speed rail/bullet train). Need to go within your municipality? Take a metro. The metro needs to be planned according to frequency of travel. Yes, you can have one along the main st of your town, and have parking on either end. Just be sure to remember to expand it outwards as needed so you can public transport people towards the main line instead of driving.

They could do both.

His only move is grievance politics. Go Bonnie!

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 17 points 3 months ago

Aah, yes...keeping the profits flowing for the oil companies that are killing us all, is his top priority.

Cool.

I love how were already assured of 3c temp rising now, and only a concerted effort will prevent a cataclysmic 4c, but fucking Polyestre and his oily slimy ilk just want to sell fucking oil for companies primary/exclusively owned by Americans, despite knowing it's how we got into and stayed in this mess to begin with.

Does he know it's been 40 years since his platform had relevance?

If anyone can find his name on that ballot

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It’s a write in ballot. Hopefully nobody can spell his name.

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Unfortunately as long as they get close and make it clear that it's PP, elections canada has said it would count

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 months ago

Hopefully people will think it’s funny to work PeePee and they won’t be counted because Pee isn’t running.

[–] cyborganism@piefed.ca 7 points 3 months ago

Ah so he keeps wanting to do what Trump is doing...

Also wanting to stop EV usage as our country is burning to the ground due to global warming is sure to help the situation .. /s

Stupidity knows no bounds.

At this point, it's just virtue (vice?) signalling.

To be a good member of the right-wing-nutjob club, you have to know all the shibboleths: anti-climate change, vaccine denialism, performative bigtory, anti-urban, performative environmental abuses, transphobia, etc. Tribalism is fundamental to human psychology, and--despite people bitching about purity tests on the left--the right has been purity-testing it's members, purging non-conformers and othering enemies for a while.

Poillevre knows he must go all-in, lest he be replaced by someone with even less shame.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 months ago

Why is he still the CPC party leader?

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 months ago

Why not something that matters?
