Looking back, great season. So many players at different stages of their careers played close to the best baseball of their career. Old guys: Springer. New guys: Yesavage. No-longer prospects: Ernie Clement, Davis Schneider. The "contributions up and down the roster" aspect of this team makes me feel like this team might be successful in the post-season, maybe grab the ALCS. (World Series would be great, but NL teams are stronger than the AL ones.)
Looking ahead: I don't think Bo, who's still visibly limping and has yet to start running, will play in the ALDS. I think he might be back in a PH/DH role in the ALCS, if we can hold on until then. (He's out best hitter - so a key piece.) I hope Kirk stays hot. I'm curious to see how many playoff starts we will use multiple pitchers for (ie, among the group Bassitt, Sherzer, Lauer, Yesavage, Varling), outside of the obvious Gausman and Bieber starts where we expect they go 5.0+ IP. I hope the Yankees and Bo Sox beat the crap out of each other, and the victor is highly depleted - especially in the bullpen lol. I think I'd rather face the Bo Sox - to avoid power hitters Judge and Stanton - although the Bo Sox have the better bullpen. The last championship I was a part of as a fan was the 2019 Raptors. I've been asking myself how much this Jays season is beginning to feel like that one :).
Let's go Blue Jays!!! π
