they have dna on the shells as well…

if true, that would be pretty cut and dry… also supposedly he had the murder weapon and manifesto on him… if that’s true and ballistics and everything checks out, pretty solid case against him….
he’s still entitled a bunch of appeals that should last years….
if the President is directly affecting it, it should be a mistrial… no way to find a non biased jury in this country either….
They literally have nothing on him. It's all inadmissible, the backpack was improperly handled at the scene, meaning there it would have been trivially easy to plant evidence... It's why we have those laws
And where's the DNA from the casings or the dropped bag? A conspicuous absence if you ask me, especially with them having no other evidence

they’re most likely not going to throw out the possession of the gun and manifesto… even if they did, travel records, cameras, and dna they DID find in nyc would still be more that enough to convict him.

I don't believe them at their word, and they've been using delay tactics. It's getting close to a year, and the trial is barely progressing.
Yeah these things take time, but if this were an open and shut case, where's the case?

I’m saying the level of certainty at which you speak on this is unfounded. You can’t be certain of shit right now. You’re not privy to the evidence they have at this point so it doesn’t matter “as far as i know it hasn’t been submitted”.

if they have they evidence they claim to have, then he will lose on that. No, I don’t trust the pigs and don’t take them at their word.
But i am uncertain as to the outcome because it’s impossible to be, given the information that both of us have available.
“justice” moves differently for people with a lot of money. He received a few hundred thousand dollars for legal representation. If you have that kind of money you can delay trial for a long ass time.
They file endless “motions” in court, each new motion must be considered and that takes time… not just for the consideration, but also to get a new court date for that motion.
The defense keeps challenging evidence (for the reasons you listed and others), challenges the location, impartiality of the judge, etc…
BJ Drumpf recently delayed his court dates for 4 whole years until he was reelected and they could be thrown out. Solid cases with tons of evidence.

I may be stupid, but how exactly would there be DNA on the shells? All I found was “Touch DNA“. Did he spit or bleed on them Fingerprints I’d at least understand.
DNA technology has advanced a lot in recent years. Touch DNA means “trace amounts of skin cells, sweat, or other bodily fluids left behind on an object when a person touches it”
which basically means: if you touch it, your DNA will be left behind.
Skin cells are constantly flaking off and being left behind… actually that’s what most household dust is from.
Hair is constantly falling off as well, if a follicle is attached, that has DNA….
On top of that, your microbiome, the billions of bacteria living on and in your body, all has unique DNA that can be solidly attributed to you…
Even if he cleaned the bullets well there would’ve been DNA in the magazine that could get on the shell… his breath is constantly shedding DNA….
If someone came up and shot me on the sidewalk, i wouldn’t get the full CEO forensic treatment they’re giving this case though….

there’s been speculation that we have less serial killers and more spree/mass murderers because they know that can’t get away with it anymore… and people who try to be serial killers get caught after their first couple of victims.

btw, there’s also a loooot of surveillance cameras in NYC… they didn’t release everything, just a few pictures so the public could help identify him.
p.s. Jury nullification got the guy off for throwing a sandwich and federal officers in DC recently….

And that’s a good thing to know about serial killers, but I guess it makes sense why most of those true crime things are in the far past.
well now the key is to leave no body or crime scene to be investigated… even then, cell phones are constantly tracked, surveillance cameras are everywhere…
one reason “the ice man” used to freeze his victims for months before dumping the body… without a proper time of death it’s hard to find him on cameras. (and most places don’t keep security footage for too long).
With this chief shooting, the crime scene was immediately preserved… cops were called immediately.
Also the NYPD has a police force larger than many countries armies.
another scary thing with DNA is if they don’t have you on record, they have some cousin on record and will then just investigate everyone related to them and collect their DNA from trash and stuff….
of course, that’s only if you kill someone rich or a white girl or someone “important” enough….
I guarantee they’re not collecting dna from shell casings after drive-by shootings in poor neighborhoods….

The gun is a glock with a custom grip right? That seems like it would be easy to identfy.
well that’s not important, what matters is the barrel and such, it will leave distinct ballistics and metal fragments… the forensics people will fire the gun again and compare that bullet to the ones retrieved….
It was a 3d printed gun, basically impossible to track down.
Ghost guns still are usually made with parts from major manufacturers -barrels, slides, part of the receiver (see wired article).
Its impossible to track down the gun but if he was carrying it then its already tracked down. If he'd thrown it in a river it would hace been impossible for law enforcement to connect it to him unless they had video of him tossing it.
Since there's video of the gun at the crime (and it exhibits a very obvious design flaw) and he had it on him the rarity of such a gun will likely serve the opposite effect at trial.
