The picture shows how I made an overlapping seam (wrong side on right side, way different from right sides together, more like appliqué) with a zig zag stitch in nude color fabric.

Finding clothes that fit is a nightmare! Using this technique, I can now find the larger size tops that fit my arms and take them in to fit my waist too. =D
